William K. Sumner, Jr., 93 of Mont Clare, PA passed away Monday, January 18, 2021 at home.
Born on August 26, 1927 in Lumberport, WV, he was the son of the late Kent and Agnes (Fortney) Sumner.
He was an automotive mechanic for decades, owning his own shop for many years and then working for Wolfington Body Company in Exton, PA until he retired at the age of 75. He had an amazing talent of creating his own devices when none could be found and maintained a vegetable garden every year up to his final year of life. He married the love of his life, Mary Louise Wasko on August 9, 1958 and they enjoyed 61 years of marriage together before her passing in September 2019.
He is survived by his daughters, Donna J. Barnshaw, Deborah A Missimer and her husband, John and his faithful companion, Rex, his dog that never left his side for the past 12 years. He also leaves behind 5 grandchildren, Tamara and her husband Andrew, Randall and his wife Andrea,
Christina and her fiancé Ryan, Jonathan, and Melissa and her husband Josh, 3 great grandchildren, Noah, Mason and Carson and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his brother, John H Sumner, his sister, Hattie A Cox and sister, Betty L (Underdown).
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewing in the Devlin Rosmos Kepp and Gatcha Funeral Home, 517 S. Main Street, Phoeniville, PA on Saturday, January 23, 2021 from 9:00 am to 10:30am. Funeral Service will be private.
Family and friends may attend Graveside Service in St. Michael Cemetery, Lovers Lane, Mont Clare, PA on Saturday at 11:15 am.
