Susan (Hansell) Shapley, 80, wife of Robert E. Shapley, of Phoenixville, PA, died on Thursday, July 27, 2017 in Phoenixville Hospital.
Born on January 24, 1937 in Chester, PA, she was the daughter of the late George A., Jr. and Elfreida (Keller) Hansell.
Susan was an English Teacher at Owen J. Roberts High School from 1975 to 1993. She always told her students to "always do the best you can", and demanded that they use correct speech and writing skills.
She was a daughter of a football coach, who loved the Eagles, going to football games and knew as much about football as most men. She was a multiple sport athlete who coached 3 sports.
Susan loved to ride in her yellow mustang convertible with the top down, wind blowing in her hair. She was an avid fan of Celtic Thunder and original country music.She could spend hours on the beach at the Jersey shore, loved black raspberry and salted caramel ice cream.
She spent her retired life doing cross word puzzles, traveling and watching her grandkids do anything.
She was a beloved wife, mother, sister and grandmother, happy to brag about her 7 wonderful grandkids.

Relatives and Friends are invited to attend her Memorial Service in the Centennial Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1330 Hares Hill Road, Kimberton, PA, on Saturday, August 5, 2017 at 11:00 am. Visitation will be held in the church from 9:30 am to 11:00 am.
