Stephen P. Shoemaker, Sr. 73, husband of Patricia A. (Bickel) Shoemaker, of Limerick, formerly of Phoenixville, PA died on Saturday, November 21, 2020.
Born on December 28, 1946 in Phoenixville, he was a son of the late Frederick J. and Anna Mae (Constantine) Shoemaker.
Steve worked at Pennco Products and then retired from the Phoenixville School District.
He served in the U.S. Army Reserves, was a rescue diver for Friendship Fire Company, and served as tax collector for the Borough of Phoenixville. He coached baseball for the Phoenixville Bambino at PECO Field and coached basketball at St. Mary School.
Steve loved to play golf and was a member of Spring Hollow Golf Club. He was also a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, Phoenixville Knights of Columbus, Friendship Fire Company, Liberty Fire Company, and the Polish Club.
In addition to his wife of 50 years, he is survived by 5 children: Kimberly Ann and husband Bill Baird, Stephen P. Shoemaker Jr., Jason and wife Karen Shoemaker, Keith Allen Shoemaker and partner Chad Brindle, and Michael William Shoemaker; 9 grandchildren: Mackenzie, Stephen III (Trip), Jaxon, Quinn, Hannah, Noah, Joshua, Jason Jr (JJ) and Gabrielle; sister, Tina Shoemaker, sisters-in-law: Betty Ann Shoemaker and Connie Spinozzi,; brother-in-law: Charles and wife Sharon Bickel; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Rick Shoemaker.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Steve's Funeral Mass in St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, 212 Dayton Street, Phoenixville, PA on Wednesday, November 25, 2020 at 10:00 am. Burial will follow in St. Ann Cemetery.
A viewing will be held at the Devlin Rosmos Kepp & Gatcha Funeral Home, 517 Main Street, Phoenixville PA on Tuesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 pm and at St. Mary Church on Wednesday morning from 9:00 to 9:45 am.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to the Phoenixville Hospital Cancer Center, 824 S. Main Street, Phoenixville, PA 19460
