Shirley Aileen Kaser

October 10, 1927 - August 29, 2024

Shirley Aileen (Hoover) Kaser passed away on August 29, 2024, at the age of 96 peacefully in her sleep. She was born in Sunbury, Pennsylvania to Joseph and Laura Hoover (Dark). She graduated from Northumberland High School in 1945.

Shirley married George Kaser on August 23, 1946, at her parents' home in Northumberland, PA. George and Shirley moved to Phoenixville in 1962. And she lived in Phoenixville for the remainder of her life.

Shirley worked for General Electric for 28 years. One of her favorite jobs at GE was as an Inspector/Administrator in the Space Division, which she was very proud of. She loved everything that had to do with NASA.

She was a member of Eastern Star, a member of the Friend of Veterans program, held many volunteer positions at the Southeastern Veteran’s Center in Spring City, PA, she spent many years as an “grandparent” reader at the Phoenixville Kindergarten Center. She was an active member for over 60 years of her Church - The Baptist Church of Phoenixville, which is now known as Grace Crossing. She was a member of the PTO for the Center for Arts and Technology (NCCTS) for many years.

She loved to travel and visited many countries like Germany, England, and Ireland. She also traveled to St. Thomas, Bermuda, the Bahamas, St. Maarten. She visited California to see her parents, sisters and brother, many, many times. When her family would visit PA, she loved to show them all around Valley Forge, Philadelphia, and Lancaster.

She loved to do crafts, puzzles, loved to color, did crossword puzzles and word searches. She was a quiet but competitive little Scrabble player and could always be found playing cards with her sisters and brother. She loved to cook and bake and was best known for her homemade bread and butter pickles and her zucchini relish. But her favorite dish of the family was her peach cobbler.

She was also an avid gardener - she loved lilacs, daffodils and tulips, but her favorite flower of all was the Gladiolus.

She is survived by her sisters Edna Salisbury-Bell and Rebecca Johnson and her brother, David Hoover. Her daughters, Gloria (Kaser) McDonnell and husband Mike, daughter Linda (Kaser) Weimar and husband Rick. Her four Grandchildren, Jennifer (Weimar) Hanson and husband George, Heather (Himes) Ramos-Lopez and husband Sergio, Rick Tobias Weimar and wife Itzel, and Darryn Himes. Shirley was known as Nanny to her grandchildren. She was always so proud and supportive of her grandchildren and spent as much time with them as she could. She also had five great-grandchildren, Sergio Ramos-Lopez, Matt and Chase Hanson, Carmen and Gabby Tobias and loved them all dearly. And her many nieces and nephews.

She was loved by all who met her and was known as Nanny to many. Her beautiful smile lit up a room and her kind heart made everyone that encountered her, fall in love with her instantly. And always said Hi Ya when you entered her home. She will be deeply missed and forever loved by all.

She is preceded in death by her only husband, George Kaser whom she was married to for 28 years. Her parents, Joseph and Laura Hoover, her sister Minnie (Hoover) Dreese, and sister Frances (Hoover) Joseph.
