Rosalie A. (Kacanda) Hohenleitner, 93, of Florham Park, NJ passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 5, 2024.
Known by all who knew and loved her as Rose or Rosie, she was born in Phoenixville, PA, on September 3, 1930. As a little girl, she loved decorating for the holidays, especially putting lights on the tree at Christmas. After graduating from Phoenixville High School and completing business courses, she went to work in the Accounting Department for AP deSanto in Phoenixville. She met her husband, Joseph A. Hohenleitner and started a family with four beloved children, Joey, Tommy, Robbie, and Debbie.
Along with her family, Rose moved to New Jersey in 1969. She worked in the lingerie department at Bamberger’s at the Livingston Mall, delighting in her access to an employee discount that she used to spoil her family, especially Joe’s daughters, Lori and Amy. Rose had quite an eye for interior design and her home was always a welcoming place. While living in Florham Park, she spent many days with grandsons Tommy and Julien, and was very proud of their accomplishments. Her family was her pride and joy, especially as great-grandchildren were welcomed to the fold.
She loved joining her sisters and their families for Sunday supper on visits home to Phoenixville. Family was most important to her and she happily attended every family celebration near and far with great joy. Her family will miss her inimitable beef stew, the sound of talk radio in her kitchen, and her kindness to animals and humans, alike.
Her adventures in travel with daughter, Deborah, included memorable trips to Fatima, the Vatican, Venice, Paris, the Loire Valley, and Belgium. An especially memorable trip was to California with Ann and Deborah where they had the fortune to meet Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin. During their stay at the Beverly Hills Hotel, they were able to visit the famed Bungalow 10 Cabana and attend a live taping of the Johnny Carson Show.
Rose was a lifelong Catholic, especially devoted to the Blessed Mother. She was a member of the former Sacred Heart Catholic Church and Holy Family Catholic Church in Florham Park, NJ.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Mary A. Michinock, son Thomas D. Hohenleitner, husband Joseph A. Hohenleitner, and siblings, Frank Michinock, Victoria Ferko, Steve Michinock, Ann Neiman, and Mary Spitz, may they rest in peace.
Rose is survived by her beloved children Joseph T. Hohenleitner (Christine) of Manchester, NJ; Robert E. Hohenleitner (Cheryl Harris) of East Hanover, NJ; and Deborah L. Hohenleitner of Florham Park, NJ.
She is also survived by grandchildren Lori Hohenleitner (Paul Anselmo);
Amy McGovern (Bryan); Thomas Hohenleitner (Taryn Fernicola) ; and
Julien Hohenleitner (Liv Amundsen) along with the apples of her eye, great-grandchildren Kylie, Mickey, Tessa, and Tyler and many nieces and nephews.
She always loved animals and was comforted in her final days by sweet CoCo.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Funeral Mass in St. Ann Chapel, 604 S. Main Street, Phoenixville, PA on Monday, March 11, 2024 at 11:00 am.
Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
