Robert (Bob) John Verish, 91, husband of the late Arlene (Powell) Verish, of Phoenixville, PA died on Wednesday, January 29, 2020. Born on September 15, 1928 he was the son of the late Paul and Julia (Papp) Verish. He was born in Phoenixville, PA. He worked as a lathe operator in Shop 6 of the Phoenix Steel Company until his retirement.
He left high school in 1945 to join the Navy. Was discharged in 1947 and returned to finish high school graduating in 1948.
He enjoyed scuba diving, photography and model ship building. He was a member of the Phoenixville Historical Society, and a former member of the Valley Forge Model Ship Society. On weekends, he could often be found at boat regattas at Gotwal's Pond in Kimberton, or regattas in Pennsylvania and New Jersey. He built a replica of the canal boats that once traveled down the Schuylkill which he donated to the Phoenixville Historical Society.
He is survived by 3 children: Virginia (Verish) Filipovic and husband Frank, Linda (Verish) Brignola and husband Alan Braverman, and Robert P. Verish and wife Patricia (Duranto).
Four Grandchildren: Sarah (Nagy) Talbot, Michael Nagy and wife Lauren (Coleman), Mark Nagy and wife Stacey (Amos), and Jena Verish and fiancee David Brandt.
5 Great-grandchildren:
Lyric, Isaac, Coleman, and Genevieve Nagy and Ryan and Kaila Talbot;
He was pre-deceased by his wife, Arlene (Powell) Verish and twin great-grandsons, Thomas and Anthony Nagy.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Memorial Service in St. John's United Church of Christ, 315 Gay Street, Phoenixville, PA on Saturday, February 8, 2020 at 10:00 am with Rev. Raymond Jachowski officiating.
Burial will follow in Morris Cemetery.
Friends may call at the church on Saturday from 9:00 to 10:00 am.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Robert J's name to St. John's United Church of Christ, 315 Gay Street, Phoenixville, PA 19460.
