Robert J. Jonik, 92, husband of Janine J. (Wyszynski) Jonik, of Kimberton, PA passed away peacefully during his sleep on Monday, January 6, 2025.
Born on July 1, 1932, in Philadelphia, PA he was the son of the late Joseph W. and Rose (Pientko) Jonik.
He was a graduate of Roman Catholic High School, Class of 1950, where he led the Bowling Team to several consecutive Championship titles. Robert (Bob) then received his Bachelor's Degree in Accounting from Villanova University in 1954 and then served in the United States Navy as an officer on a munitions supply ship.
After his military service, Bob became a Cost Accountant for Oscar Mayer for 10 years before becoming Corporate Controller for West Pharmaceutical Services for 20 years, retiring in 1989 to pursue some property renovation projects on some historic family-owned homes in the Art Museum area in Philadelphia, as well as to attend various sporting events and activities of his grandchildren.
He was a former Treasurer of the Phoenixville YMCA. Avid sports fan, he loved watching Villanova Basketball, playing slow pitch softball, volleyball and watching his grandchildren play sports while cheering them on with great enthusiasm, pride and passion.
In addition to his wife of 68+ years, he is survived by:
3 children: Joseph R., husband of Beverly (Nesley) Jonik; Robert A., husband of Theresa (McGraw) Jonik; Janine Jonik Birmingham.
Daughter-in-law, Gwen Sheasley Jonik.
9 Grandchildren who lovingly called him Pop: Andrew, Melissa (Oaks) Christopher, Joseph Jr., Patrick, Benjamin, Sarahrose, Harrison, Jackson.
5 Great-grandchildren: Jason, Sylvie, Cat, Savannah, Kelsey.
Sister, Lorraine Jonik Craven.
Bob was preceded in death by his son, James R. Jonik and 2 grandsons, Thomas Jonik and Tad Jonik.
Bob was a very kind, gentle, patient, hardworking, but private man with a great sense of humor. He loved only one woman his whole life, a woman who he took as his beautiful bride who just miraculously happened to have even more patience than him. Smiles. He lived for his best friend and loving wife Janine, always by her side every day, always appreciating her and encouraging her. And his wife Janine (Nin) lived for him as well. And together they attended Mass every Saturday evening for as long as they were physically able, as loving servants of God and Jesus Christ our Savior, and as outstanding role models that ALL couples and relationships to emulate in some way.
Of all his qualities, Bob's most loving quality was without question his dedication to FAMILY... Family meant everything to him, including all cousins, relatives, friends and neighbors who he always enjoyed seeing and always had something positive and encouraging to say, and usually with a bit of humor involved that made everyone comfortable and laugh!! There was nothing he wouldn't do for his family and friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to his Funeral Mass in St. Basil the Great Catholic Church, 2340 Kimberton Road, Phoenixville, PA on Tuesday, January 14, 2025 at 11:00 am.
Burial will be private.
A visitation will be held in church on Tuesday from 9:30 am to 10:45 am just prior to mass.
