Robert J. Balogh, Sr.

Robert J. Balogh Sr, Bob, age 91 passed away peacefully on Saturday October 15, 2022 at Masonic Village, Elizabethtown, PA with his children by his side. He was husband to the late Frances (Miskiewicz) Balogh.

Bob was born on March 12,1931 in Mont Clare, PA to the late Michael Balogh and Elizabeth (Getzey) Balogh. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard during the Korean War and then in the U.S. Army as a drill sergeant. Bob worked at the former B.F. Goodrich Tire Company in Oaks, PA and then for Lockheed Martin Corp.in King of Prussia. Bob was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Byzantine Catholic Church in Mont Clare. He enjoyed running pierogi sales and helping restore church icons.

Bob is survived by son, Robert J. Balogh Jr MD and wife Karla Balogh;daughter Lisa Dodson MD, PhD and her husband, Milton.;grandchildren: Christopher Balogh PhD and wife Jennifer, Laurel wife of Tarik Shaheen, and Michael Dodson; great grandson Zaid Shaheen. He was preceded in death by his older brother Michael Balogh.

Bob enjoyed watching Penn State football so fervently that Masonic Village staff referred to him as “Penn State Bob”. He enjoyed eating clams, prime rib, short ribs, zeps and good cheese at family events. He delighted in a Manhattan cocktail. Bob loved to cheer on his family members to complete tasks they had started and to do their very best at them.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Funeral Service at St. Michael the Archangel Byzantine Catholic Church, Amelia and Landis Streets, Mont Clare, PA on Saturday, October 22, 2022 at 10:00 am. Burial will follow in the St. Michael Cemetery. A viewing will be held in the church on Saturday morning from 8:45 to 9:45 am.
