Raymond A. "Jimmy" Gill, 92 , husband of the late Stella M. (Bilyk) Gill of Birdsboro, formerly of Phoenixville, died at home on Thursday, September 7, 2017.
He was born in Phoenixville on August 25, 1925 to the late John and Mary (Swiszcz) Gill
He served in the U.S. Navy in Normandy aboard the USS LST 537 during World War II.
He worked at the former Lachman's in Phoenixville and Synthane-Taylor in Oaks. Afterwards he worked part-time at the Phoenixville Acme.
Jimmy was a lifelong member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church and attended Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Birdsboro.
He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Phoenixville Council #1374 where he was a Fourth Degree Knight. He also belonged to the Phoenixville V.F.W. Post 1564, Polish Club, and Friendship Fire Company.
He enjoyed traveling with his wife of 69 years to his Navy reunions. He also liked gardening and going to polka festivals, and most of all he loved his family.
He is survived by:
daughter, Linda wife of William Muthersbaugh, Jr. of Bechtelsville, PA;
daughter, Ray Ann wife of Michael Kornoski of Birdsboro, PA;
6 grandchildren, Kristin and husband Daniel Lepping, Daniel and wife Amy Muthersbaugh, Jonathan and wife Erica Muthersbaugh, Kerri Schaeffer, Todd and wife Jenn Schaeffer, and Mickey Kornoski;
9 great-grandchildren, Grace, Eric, Peyton, Drew, Colin, Kaelin, Avery, Tylor and Cameron
Sister, Dorothy wife of Nick Valerio of Phoenixville and brother, Joseph Gill of Douglassville.
and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Frances Conwell
His family would like to thank Dawn (aide), Michael, Mary, Bill and Dawn (RN) for the loving care they gave Daddy.
Relatives and Friends are invited to attend his Funeral Mass in Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 219 Dayton Street, Phoenixville, PA, on Wednesday, September 13, 2017 at 11:00 am with Rev. Richard Mucowski officiating.
Burial will follow in Holy Trinity Cemetery, Phoenixville, PA.
A viewing will be held in church on Wednesday morning from 9:30 am to 10:45 am.
