Nicholas L. Platco, Sr., 90, husband of the late Elaine A. (Magyar) Platco, of Phoenixville, PA, died on Wednesday, September 21, 2016 peacefully in the home that he built.
Born on December 21, 1925 in Mont Clare, PA, he was the son of the late Luke and Susanna (Sabo) Platco.
Nicholas was a 1943 graduate of Phoenixville High School.
He served as the ship pharmacist in the United States Navy during World War II on the USS General A. E. Anderson.
He worked as a Cabinet Maker at Frederick Brothers in Pottstown, PA, retiring after 25 years in 1987, and previously worked 15 years at Bush Brothers in Royersford, PA.
He was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Byzantine Catholic Church in Mont Clare, PA.
He was a Dart Shooter for 50 years for various clubs. He was a member of the Polish Club, Hungarian Club, Veterans of Foreign War Post 1564, Phoenixville Moose Lodge 1273, American Legion Post 482 in Phoenixville, and also a member of the German Club in Pottstown, PA.
Surviving are son, Nicholas L. Platco, Jr. and wife Cheryl of Skippack, PA,
daughter, Patricia A. McLaughlin and husband Charles of Audubon, PA,
3 loving grandchildren,
Jennifer, Keli, Ryan,
and 2 great-grandchildren,
Kevin Joseph and Sophie Elaine.
He was preceded in death by brothers, Luke Platco, Joseph Platco and sister, Ann Boyer.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Funeral Service in St. Michael the Archangel Byzantine Catholic Church, Amelia and Landis Streets, Mont Clare, PA, on Monday, September 26, 2016 at 10:30 am.
Burial will follow in St. Michael Cemetery, Mont Clare, PA.
A viewing will be held in the church on Monday morning from 9:15 am to 10:15 am.
