Michael Eugene Gardenier passed away suddenly on July 11, 2018 at his home in Charleston, South Carolina. Michael was born on November 24, 1947 in Shreveport, Louisiana to the late Lt. Col. Charles K. Gardenier and Virginia R. Gardenier, who both served in the U.S. Army. Michael lived in many places growing up including Pennsylvania, Texas, Hawaii and New York. Michael is survived by his wife, Mary Kay Gardenier; his children, Colleen Wolkey (Ron), Michael Gardenier (Nicole) and Brigitte Smith (Brian); his step-son, David Kiesling (Heather); grandchildren Jose Dario Hernandez, Harry Matthew Kiesling, Alexander James Gardenier, Audrey Claire Kiesling, Brandon Michael Wolkey and Lucie Rose Smith; his brothers Patrick Gardenier (Patricia), Kevin Gardenier (Jacqui), Timothy Gardenier, and sister Carol Gardenier-Cazzaniga (Roberto), and nieces and nephews, family and friends who loved him dearly.
Michael graduated from St. Pius X High School in Pottstown Pennsylvania in 1965. He then graduated from Drexel University with a Bachelors Degree in Accounting and a Masters of Business and Health Administration from Widener University. Michael worked as a Chief Financial Officer in Pennsylvania and Georgia for forty years and was a fellow with the Healthcare Financial Management Association, before retiring in Charleston with his beloved wife. Michael was a life long learner with a passion for golf, music, traveling and playing bridge. Above all, Michael loved his family.
Services to celebrate the life of Michael will be held on July 17, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at J. Henry Stuhr, Inc., Mount Pleasant Chapel, 1494 Mathis Ferry Road, Mount Pleasant, South Carolina 29464, with a reception to follow.
Services will be also be held on Friday, July 20, 2018 at Devlin Rosmos Kepp & Gatcha Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 517 S. Main Street at Fourth Avenue, Phoenixville, PA at 1pm with Deacon Mark Szewczak officiating. Immediately following, Michael will be laid to rest at St. Ann Cemetery in Phoenixville, PA.
