Matthew H. Cory

Matthew H. Cory, 77, husband of Christine (DiNatale) Cory of Phoenixville passed away in the Phoenixville Hospital on Saturday, November 25, 2023.

Born on September 27, 1946 in Hopkinsville, KY he was the son of the late Matthew R. Cory and Dorothy (Lockoff) (Cory) Harkin. He grew up in Norristown, PA and graduated from Girard College.  Matt served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam War.  He was a Senior Reactor Operator of Limerick Generating Station, one of the original groups to open the plant. He retired from Philadelphia Electric Company after 41 years of service. He was a member of St. Ann Church in Phoenixville.  Matt enjoyed playing golf, drinking a cold beer, watching the Eagles, vacationing at the Jersey Shore, cooking, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.  Matt could always make you laugh with his quick wit and fun personality.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two children:  Matthew R. Cory husband of Dr. Megan McCarthy and Elizabeth wife of Scott Hoey; two grandchildren:  Ella and Nicholas; six brothers and sisters:  Virginia Shaffer, Kathleen Vogel, Colleen Sinex, Michael Harkin, Patrick Harkin, and James Harkin.  
He was preceded in death by a sister, Margaret Viscuso.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Funeral Mass in St. Ann Chapel, 604 S. Main Street, Phoenixville, PA  on Friday, December 1, 2023 at 11:00 am with Rev. Daniel Arechabala officiating.  Burial will follow in St. Ann Cemetery.  A viewing will be held in the Chapel on Friday morning from 9:15 to 10:45 am.
