Mary Jo Gontkof

Mary Jo (Sparano) Gontkof, 74, of Phoenixville, PA passed away on Thursday, March 6, 2025.

Born on January 6, 1951 she was the daughter of the late Joseph A. and Mary Ann (King) Sparano.

She was a 1968 graduate of Phoenixville High School and worked as an Executive Assistant for Aetna.

She was a lifelong member of St. Ann Catholic Church and also attended St. Ann’s Elementary School. She referred to those classmates as “The Originals” and cherished those friendships.

Mary Jo loved going to the beach and being with her family. She was happiest in a beach chair with her toes in the ocean and with a cold beer in her hand. Her second favorite place to be was at a dinner table with her family. She cherished those days - especially with her granddaughters. Although she only had two sons, she was known as Momma G to many of their friends throughout the years.

She is survived by 2 sons:

Karl J. Gontkof (Patrick Cocchiarella);

Andrew Gontkof (Christine).

2 Grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Emma.

Brother, William Sparano (Rose) and sister, Ruth Weeks (Jay).

She was preceded in death by her infant son, Michael Gontkof.

A visitation will be held in the Devlin - Gatcha Funeral Home, 517 S. Main Street, Phoenixville, PA on Monday, March 10, 2025 from 5:30 to 7:00 pm.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Funeral Mass in St. Ann Chapel, 604 S. Main Street, Phoenixville, PA on Tuesday, March 11, 2025 at 11:00 am.

Burial will be private.
