Marie T. (Lesko) Bodnar, 98, wife of the late Edward J. Bodnar of Phoenixville, PA, died on Friday, March 6, 2020. Born on December 27, 1921, in Reading, PA, she was the daughter of the late John and Mary (Dragan) Lesko. Marie served honorably as a WAVE with the United States Navy during World War II from 1943 to 1946, supporting Naval Fleet Postal Offices in New York City, NY, and San Francisco, CA. A resident of Phoenixville, PA, for over 60 years, she worked in the offices of Dr. Teofil Babacz; Gilkyson & Lippert Insurance; and Rambo Real Estate. She was a devoted member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, where she belonged to the Rosary Society, Women’s Guild and Legion of Mary, and St. Basil the Great Catholic Church.
She is survived by two children: Maryann, wife of William McHale, Jr.; Michael, husband of June Bodnar; two grandchildren: Matthew Bodnar and Melissa Bodnar; sister, Helen Lesko, and sister-in-law, Joanne Lesko; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by daughter, Lisa Bodnar; sisters and brothers, Kitty Wrable, John Lesko, Walter Lesko, Dorothy Cheri, Bernadette (Pat) Siekierka, Rita Kutzer, and George Lesko.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Funeral Mass at St. Basil the Great Catholic Church, 2300 Kimberton Road, Kimberton, PA on Thursday, March 12, 2020 at 10:30 am. Friends may call at the church from 9:15 to 10:15 am. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent by mail to the Dementia Society of America, PO Box 600, Doylestown, PA 18901 or online via www.DementiaSociety.org/donate.
