Dr. Kathryn Elizabeth Fuscaldo,85,of Rosemont, PA, died Tuesday, January 3, 2017 in Paoli Hospital after a short illness.
Born on January 4,1931 in Queens ,New York, she was the daughter of the late Alfred and Elizabeth (DeLiso) Fuscaldo.
Kathryn earned her Undergraduate degree from Queens College, her Masters degree from Hoftstra University, and her PhD from Michigan State University. Kathryn was extremely proud of her academic accomplishments. She spent the majority of her research career at Hahnemann University in the field of Genetics and in the Department of Hematology and Oncology. Over the years Kathryn held many different academic positions at Hahnemann including Associate Director of the Herbert L. Orlowitz Institute for Cancer and Blood Diseases, Dean of the School of Allied Health and Dean of Women. After retirement, Kathryn used her keen intellectual curiosity to, among other things, research and assemble her family tree. She had a passion for all things Italian, including Opera and Classical music, and she loved conversing with anyone with even a rudimentary grasp of the language. Kathryn was a tremendous cook; her homemade rolls were legendary. Her home was the gathering spot for the Holidays and Kathryn was the glue that held family together, on this continent and in Europe. Kathryn was passionate about politics and she proudly served on the Democratic Election Board for Radnor Township. She also had a deep love for animals, rescuing many a dog or cat in need of a good home. A devout Catholic all her life, Kathryn was a member for years of St Thomas of Villanova and later of St Katharine's of Siena in Wayne.
Kathryn is survived by her brother Anthony Fuscaldo of New York and by her nieces and nephews, Al Fuscaldo(Karen), Elizabeth Fuscaldo (Drew Maginnis),Anthony Fuscaldo( Jennifer) and Kathryn Kruemmling ( Ralph). She is also survived by her beloved great-nieces and nephews, Ryan, Aaron, Danielle, Alexis, Anna, Kayla, Zachary, Natalie and Avery.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Funeral Mass in St Katharine of Siena Church 104 S. Aberdeen Avenue, Wayne, PA, on Friday, January 6, 2017 at 10:00AM. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, West Conshohocken, PA.
Friends may call at the Church on Friday morning from 9:00 to 10:00am.
