Kathleen Ann Vasko, age 81, of Phoenixville, PA, passed away at home on July 21, 2022. Born on August 12, 1940, in Phoenixville, PA, she was the daughter of the late John D. Kane, Sr. and Doris (Piersol) Kane, and was the seventh eldest of eight children. She graduated from Bishop Kenrick Catholic High School in 1958.
She married her high school sweetheart, Michael A. Vasko, in 1960. They were married at St. Michael’s Parish in Mont Clare, PA, and then raised four children in the Phoenixville area, Michael, Denise, David and Bonnie. Kathy worked for Puleo Real Estate and the Chester County District Court through the years. She was active in many community projects including Birthright, and the Phoenixville Hospital Thrift Shop.
Deeply devoted to her Catholic faith, Kathy was active in St. Basil’s Parish in Kimberton, PA. She and her husband also served as foster parents for Catholic Social Services when needed.
Kathy was a beloved Grandmother to her seven grandchildren and Great Grandmother to three great grandchildren. She and Mike hosted countless family picnics and invited people to spend time with them in Ocean City, NJ. She will be remembered for her ability to make people feel welcome in her home and for listening with a discerning ear.
Kathy enjoyed reading, Mahjong, watching the Phillies and Sixers, the Hallmark Channel and baking. She was known for making Christmas treats and delivering them for many years to family and friends.
Kathy is survived by her beloved husband, Michael A. Vasko and her loving children Michael J. Vasko, Denise Sarsilmaz (Derya), Bonnie DiPasquale. She was preceded in death by her sons, Andrew Vasko and David J. Vasko. She was loving grandmother of Ashley Rivera, Tyler Olenik, Max DiPasquai, Michael T. Vasko, Eileen Plocicki, David Vasko, and Ryan Vasko. Great-grandmother of Nora Rivera, Ella Rivera, and Oakley Rose Vasko. Sister of Sr. Doris Kane, I.H.M., preceded by John D. Kane, Jr., Joan Kane, James Kane, Sr. Mary Jane Kane, I.H.M., Joseph D. Kane and Patricia Kane Burruano. Many loving nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to her Funeral Mass in St. Basil the Great Catholic Church, 2340 Kimberton Road, Phoenixville, PA on Tuesday, July 26, 2022 at 11:00 am.
Burial to follow in St. Michael's Cemetery, Mont Clare, PA.
A visitation will be held in church on Tuesday from 9:45 to 10:45 am.
