Josephine R. Oustrich, nee Zondlo, beloved wife of John Oustrich, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 19, 2019, at the age of 80. She fought a courageous battle against pancreatic cancer, and fought this dreaded disease to the bitter end. Josephine was born in Hellertown, Pennsylvania and was the daughter of the late Stanley and Anna (Bochniak) Zondlo. She graduated from Hellertown High School, and graduated from Kutztown State Teachers College and the University of West Chester.
Josephine is survived by her children Jocelyn wife of Edward Little of Downingtown, John Jay husband of Loretta Oustrich of Phoenixville, Jeffrey husband of Kelly Oustrich of Downingtown, and Jamie Oustrich of Phoenixville. She is grandmother to Nolan and Jillian Little, Paige and Chloe Oustrich, and Caitlin and Colin Oustrich. She is also survived by her siblings Mary Ann Micklus, her twin sister Julie Tiogo and Sophie Eschbach, and was preceded in death by her younger sister Kathy Montoro.
Josephine was a devoted mother, grandmother and sister. She was proud to be called a “homemaker” and a “teacher”. Josephine and her husband John were equal and full partners throughout their marriage and each credited the other for their personal and professional success.
She was active in her Catholic faith, and after her retirement had a quiet passion for helping youngsters achieve their potential, especially the students at the Royal Palm Academy School in Naples, Florida.
Over her lifetime, she was a voracious reader and an accomplished “beader”. Jo loved to travel and was able to visit interesting places such as France, Canada, Germany, Italy, Switzerland, Spain, Morocco, the Netherlands, Australia and New Zealand.
Jo will be greatly missed by her large family and many dear friends. After a long bout with cancer, she is finally at peace and looking down on her loving family and friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Funeral Mass at Saint Basil the Great Catholic Church, 2340 Kimberton Road, Phoenixville, PA 19460 on Wednesday, April 24, 2019 at 10:30 am with Rev. Gary Pacitti officiating. Burial will follow in St. Ann Cemetery, Phoenixville.
A visitation will be held at the Devlin Rosmos Kepp & Gatcha Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 517 South Main Street at Fourth Avenue, Phoenixville, PA, on Tuesday evening from 6 - 8 pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the American Cancer Society at www.cancer.org.
