John C. Vandevere, 90, husband of the late Lourdes T. (Alvare) Vandevere of Phoenixville, PA passed away on Wednesday, December 8, 2021.
Born on July 28, 1931 in Philadelphia, PA he was the only child of the late John C. and Margaret M. (Murphy) Vandevere. John was raised in Drexel Hill, PA.
He was a proud Villanova University Graduate, earning his Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering. He was considered a Top Cat in the Villanova Alumni Association. John was an avid Villanova basketball fan who rarely missed watching a game.
He served in the United States Army and was stationed in Germany and England.
He was a Mechanical Engineer at Unisys and Ford Motor Company.
John was a member of St. Basil the Great Catholic Church.
Besides the love of his life, his wife of 47 years “Luli”, John loved boating and his childhood home in Somers Point, New Jersey. As John’s family grew, he took great joy in attending his grandchildren’s sporting events.
He is survived by his 5 children:
John C. (Chip) husband of Mariette Vandevere of Springfield;
Paul Vandevere of Philadelphia;
Mark husband of Heidi Vandevere of Phoenixville;
Theresa wife of Daniel Spitko of Gilbertsville;
Alexander husband of Dawn Vandevere of Wayne.
9 Grandchildren: Katie, Maddy, John Casey, Drew, Amanda, Lisa, Tyler, Gabriel, and Luke.
3 Great-grandchildren: Quinn, Molly, and Halle.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Funeral Mass in St. Basil the Great Catholic Church, 2340 Kimberton Road, Phoenixville, PA on Tuesday, December 14, 2021 at 11:00 am.
Burial will follow Calvary Cemetery, Conshohocken, PA.
A visitation will be held in church on Tuesday from 9:45 am to 10:45 am.
In lieu of flowers contribution may be made to the charity of your choice in his name.
