John E. “Jack” Cox, 95, beloved husband to Mae (Dantonio) Cox, of Chester Springs, PA passed away suddenly on Friday, March 3, 2023 in Paoli Hospital.

Born on February 19, 1928 in Chester, PA he was a son of the late Richard and Effie (Lammey) Cox.

As a proud veteran of the U.S. Army, Jack served as a paratrooper in World War II. Following his service, he was employed as a talented Pastry Chef for Viking Pastries in Ardmore for many years.

Outside of work, Jack’s well-lived life included the love of reading, buying and selling of antiques and collecting post cards.  With brush in hand, he would paint on just about any material laying around. He wrote poetry including a touching tribute called “My little Sister” in memory of his sister Betty. He planted and tended to his grounds at their Chester Springs home, that his “father built”, as he would lovingly say. He fondly recalled memories of the many deer hunts in Potter County with his brother Cork.

Besides being a colorful storyteller, Jack had the ability to carry a tune.  You could always hear him singing. Being a warm Englishman, he would greet everyone with a smile and ask “how are you?”

Another one of Jack’s character traits was that of an appreciative man. He’s been quoted as saying (even at times, singing!!) “My cup runneth over”.  So at this time, his family feels it most fitting to thank “the good neighbors” in Chester Springs who watched over Mae & Jack over the decades.

In addition to his dear wife Mae of 67 years, whom he would say I love you to, each and every day, Jack is survived by his brother, Donald (Cork) Cox; his sister, Sharon and her husband Ken Kochey. Jack cherished the relationship with his siblings whom he remained close to over the years.  He created a special bond with his many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by three sisters, Florence White, Violet Young, and Betty Varner and his brother, Al Cox.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral service at the Devlin Rosmos Kepp & Gatcha Funeral Home, 517 S. Main Street, Phoenixville on Saturday, March 11, 2023 at 11:30 a.m.

Interment will follow in St. Matthews Lutheran Cemetery, Chester Springs.
