John H. Buckwalter, age 84, passed away peacefully on July 27, 2021. He was born January 19, 1937, in Phoenixville, Pennsylvania to Randall and Anna (Dietrich) Buckwalter.
John eloped with his longtime love and friend, Willa Fern (Moore) Buckwalter, in October of 1966. Together they had 3 children, John Buckwalter and his wife Constance, Mary (Buckwalter) Corcoran and her husband Derek, and Mark Buckwalter and his wife Heather.
He was in the Army National Guard of Pennsylvania for 2 years. John was a full-time firefighter and ambulance driver at West End Fire Company No. 3 before joining the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation where he worked as a Garage Manager and Mechanic for 33 years.
John was a member of the Mt. Pickering F&AM Lodge 446, 32nd Degree Member of the Valley of Reading and a member of Lu Lu Shriners in Plymouth Meeting. He was a lifetime member of Kimberton Fire Company and West End Fire Company, Tall Cedars of Lebanon in Spring City and a member of Valley Forge Fire Company.
He loved to travel in his RV to Lake Wallenpaupack in the summer and Beverly Hills, FL in the winter. John enjoyed riding his motorcycle, watching softball games and spending time in the kitchen cooking and baking.
John was a loving and devoted grandfather to his 5 grandchildren, Emily, Madison, Hannah, David and Jacob.
He was preceded by sisters and brothers, Helen, Louis, Frances, Harold and Robert.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Funeral Service in Devlin Rosmos Kepp and Gatcha Funeral Home on Tuesday, August 3, 2021 at 11:00 am. Burial will follow in Morris Cemetery. A visitation will be held in the Funeral Home on Tuesday from 9:30 am to 11:00 am.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be given to Shriners Hospitals for Children at the link provided at the bottom of this page.
