John H. Belman

John H. Belman, 94, husband of the late Mary Ann (Cook) Belman of Phoenixville, PA passed away on Friday, February 7, 2025 in the Reading Hospital.

Born on November 5, 1930 in Phoenixville, PA he was the son of the late Lawrence and Anna (Boalick) Belman.

John is a 1950 graduate of North Coventry High School and later went on to graduate from Temple Technical school with an architectural drafting certificate.

He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He was promoted to Technical Staff Sargent.

John worked as an architect for various firms throughout his career in Center City Philadelphia and retired from Ewing Cole in 1997.

John loved gardening most of all, house projects, his walking group after retiring and traveling with Mary Ann and friends. As a young boy he was a member of Boy Scout troop 27 and the Order of the Arrow. He also enjoyed making models, HO scale model trains and automotive work.

He volunteered at St. Mary's Shelter where he served on the board of directors for many years and the Phoenixville Senior Center. 

He is survived by three children: Claudia Mondelblatt and her husband Dean, Bryan Belman and his wife Sally, and Brad Belman and his partner Jules Cosenza; seven grandchildren: Laurie, Jeffrey, Jarad, Eric, Christopher, Ian, and Vivian; and three great grandsons: Aidan, Austin, and Dylan; brother-in-law: Frank Cook and his wife Margie. He was preceded in death by his sisters: Edythe Gawthrop and Jean Keck.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Funeral Service from the Devlin - Gatcha Funeral Home, 517 Main Street, Phoenixville, PA on Thursday, February 13, 2025 at 10:30 am.

Burial will follow in Philadelphia Memorial Park in Frazer, PA.

A viewing will be held in the funeral home on Wednesday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to St. Mary's Franciscan Shelter, 209 Emmett Street, Phoenixville, PA 19460 at stmarysfs.org or to the Veterans Affairs Services at heroes.vfw.org.
