Genevieve M. "Gene" (Ziemba) Wilk, 94, wife of the late Stanley Wilk, died on July 31 at St. Anne's Retirement Community in Columbia, Lancaster County, where she resided for the past 4½ years.
She was born in Reading, PA to the late Joseph and Wladyslawa "Lottie" (Roszkowski) Ziemba, graduated from Reading High School, and moved to Phoenixville in 1949, where she resided for most of her life.
Gene was primarily a homemaker and devoted wife and mother, but also worked in assembly and manufacturing, including making parachutes during WW2.
She was a member of Holy Trinity Church and a Friend of St. Ann Church. Gene loved and lived her Catholic faith and Polish heritage, enjoyed Bible Study, travel, and playing Bingo, and admired the beauty of nature.
Gene is survived by 4 daughters:
Monica Duffy (William) of Kettering, OH;
Genevieve Wilk of Phoenixville;
Mary Anne Harding of Ardmore;
and Bernadette Anderson (Thomas) of Lancaster, PA;
a sister, Sr. Mary Joanita Ziemba, CSSF, Lodi, NJ;
and a brother, Joseph Ziemba (Elizabeth), of Vancouver, WA;
4 grandchildren,
10 great grandchildren,
and nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Christine Wilk, and a sister, Helen Ziemba.
Relatives and Friends are invited to attend her Funeral Mass in Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 219 Dayton Street, Phoenixville, PA, on Tuesday, August 8, 2017 at 10:00 am.
Burial will follow in Holy Trinity Cemetery, Phoenixville, PA.
A viewing will be held in the Devlin Rosmos Kepp & Gatcha Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 517 S. Main Street, Phoenixville, PA on Monday evening from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm. Recitation of the Rosary will be at7:30 pm.
