Francis Shirley Detwiler

F. Shirley Detwiler, 95, wife of the late Donald R. Detwiler, Sr. of Phoenixville, PA, passed away on Monday, January 20, 2025, at Brandywine senior living.

Born on August 5, 1929, in Glenmoore, PA, she was the daughter of the late R. Elwood and Margaret (Keen) Potts.

Shirley worked as a business administrator up until her retirement. She was a member of St. Peter’s Pikeland United Church of Christ and the church Sewing Circle. Shirley enjoyed her summers at the beach in Stone Harbor, NJ, was an avid Flyers fan and enjoyed watching many sports. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family while enjoying a good meal and a cosmopolitan – “a little on the sweeter side”.

She is survived by her sons: Curtis B. Detwiler of Kimberton, PA and Donald R. “Sam” Detwiler, Jr. of Kalispell, MT; grandchildren: Matthew Detwiler, Jason Detwiler, Patrick Detwiler and Lindsay Detwiler; great grandchildren: Cameron, Elle, Lee, Miles, and Eden; brother, Robert E. Potts, Jr. and sister, Inez Reed.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her memorial service at St. Peter’s Pikeland United Church of Christ, 1193 Clover Mill Rd, Chester Springs, PA on Tuesday, February 4, at 11:00 AM.

Burial will be private at the request of the family.
