Eleanor M. (Valerio) Carey, 93, wife of the late James J. Carey of Phoenixville, PA passed away on Tuesday, April 12, 2022.
Born on January 30, 1929 in Norristown, PA she was the daughter of the late Dominic Valerio and the late Mary (Sakal) Johnstead.
She graduated from Phoenixville Area High School where she played in the high school band.
She worked at Valley Forge Army Hospital and Devault Meat Company.
She was an active member of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church where she was a Lector and member of the Ecumenical Council and Ladies Auxiliary.
Eleanor was an accomplished pianist and excelled at knitting, cross-stitch embroidery, sewing, and quilting. She participated in the first Dogwood Parade.
She is survived by 3 children:
Roberta wife of Gregory Bones;
James H. husband of Ellen Carey;
Colleen Adams.
7 Grandchildren, Jennifer, Rebecca, Bill, Justin, Michael, Jacquelyn, and Christine.
12 Great-grandchildren, Colin, Eloise, Violet, Daniella, Alexandria, Makhi, David, Hannah, Jimmie, Harper, Lauren, and Michael.
1 Great great-grandson, Dante.
Preceded in death by sister, Dolores Valerio and half-brother, Edward Johnstead.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Funeral Mass in St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, 219 Dayton Street, Phoenixville, PA on Tuesday, April 19, 2022 at 10:00 am.
Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
A visitation will be held in church on Tuesday from 8:45 am to 9:45 am.
