Edna Schliesman

February 18, 1927 — May 25, 2020

Edna B. (Huot) Schliesman, 93, of Phoenixville, wife of the late John J. Schliesman died May 25, 2020 in Phoenixville Hospital Born February 18, 1927 in NYC, daughter of Harvey R. and G. Beatrice (Potvin) Huot. She worked in personnel at Container Corporation of America, and Bell Atlantic. She was a member of St. Ann Catholic Church. Hers was a life of curiousity & learning, countless acts of kindness, and warm memories. As a mother, she was almost impossibly patient, tolerant, understanding and forgiving, but not under the delusion that her children were perfect. She loved dancing and travel, was always game to experience new places & meet new people. She could- and did- find something interesting in, and good to say, about almost anyone. As a child, she did some professional modelling, and appeared in a live TV broadcast from the 1939 World's Fair. In her 70's, she taught herself how to use a computer, and did medical transcriptions for local doctors. She LOVED taking "back roads" she'd never seen before, which often led to her discovering restaurants and/or towns that would become lifetime favorites. At several excursions for a lunch or dinner, all her children have asked her "mom, how the @#%# did you find THIS place"? She had a vocabulary that could've rivaled William F. Buckley's. Often, when she used a "new word", like "eleemosynary", she made us go get a dictionary & look it up for ourselves. She taught us to "do what's right", even if difficult or inconvenient, and to think for ourselves. She taught us not to give up, that you really can achieve almost anything if you keep trying. She taught us so much more, all taught with love. We already miss her terribly, but we'll always be grateful we had her as long as we did. She is survived by 3 children: Jon Erik husband of Patricia Schliesman; Steven Kirk husband of Cathy Schliesman; Ellen Ann Schliesman. 2 Grandchildren, Kyle and Bryan Schliesman. Funeral Service and burial will be private.
