Dorothy S. Wood

Dorothy (Shissler) Wood, 96, wife of the late Fred G. Wood, Jr. of Phoenixville, PA passed away on Saturday, March 16, 2024 at home.

Born on June 2, 1927 in Lancaster, PA she was the daughter of the late Richard and Ruth (Barley) Shissler.

Dorothy was a graduate of McCaskey High School in Lancaster.

In her early years she worked at WGAL Television in Lancaster and Valley Forge Army Hospital before raising her family.  She then worked as a Secretary for United Methodist Church Conference Center.

She was an active member of First United Methodist Church and was a Sunday School Teacher for over 50 years.  She was also a member of the Women's Club of Phoenixville, AARP (Phoenixville Chapter), and a founding member of the Meals on Wheels Program in Phoenixville.

She is survived by 2 daughters:
Sharon Smallwood wife of Gary Stec;
Barbara Wood.

Grandson, Travis Smallwood (Jackie).

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Funeral Service in the First United Methodist Church, 865 S. Main Street, Phoenixville, PA on Saturday, March 23, 2024 at 11:00 am.

Burial will be private.

A visitation will be in the church on Saturday from 10:00 to 11:00 am.
