Dolores Marie Hess (aka) Dolores Hess Butler of Myrtle Beach, SC, wife of the late John H. Butler and also of the late John “Larry” Hess, Sr., entered into eternal rest on August 18th at Grand Strand Medical Center in Myrtle Beach.
Born in Phoenixville, PA, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Jennie Scaringi. She graduated from Phoenixville High School where she was a member of the National Honor Society and vice president of her senior class. She had a life-long passion for learning, particularly history, and she worked as an elementary school teacher and youth camp administrator. She never lost her inner child and enjoyed creating art, including painting, ceramics, and writing. She published four novels under the pseudonym Jenn Shell—Wet Confetti, Purple Gold, Destiny’s Gamble, and Turbulent Tunnel. She also published in the National Library of Poetry.
She will be remembered for her warm sense of humor, infectious smile, and compassionate spirit. She loved to comfort and counsel others, and she was a loyal friend as well as a devoted and loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister. She brought smiles wherever she went.
She is survived by her daughter Kelliann Hess Dearolf (Charles); son John Hess (Brandi); step-son Richard Butler (Debi); step-daughter Claudia Butler Shannon (Gregg); grandchildren Michelle Dearolf, Jennine Weller (Ezra), Life Butler (Ivy), Ariel Volpe (Richard), Gabrielle Butler, Neil Allison; and great-grandchildren Milo Lawrence Weller, Silas Butler Gebert, Tristan Butler, and Oliver, Theodore, and Ewan Volpe. In addition, she is survived by her sister Theresa Yednock, sister-in-law Joyce Scaringi, and many loving nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her siblings Annmarie Suzenski, Annette Mercer, and Joseph, Thomas, Daniel, and Louis Scaringi, as well as her step-son Robert Butler. She was immensely proud of her family and leaves behind nothing but beautiful memories.
She was an active member of the Church of the Resurrection while living in Myrtle Beach. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in her name may be made to the Church of the Resurrection, 8901 Hwy 17 Bypass South, PO Box 14548, Surfside Beach, SC 29587.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Funeral Mass in St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, 212 Dayton Street, Phoenixville, PA on Friday, November 15, 2019 at 10:00 am.
Interment will follow in St. Mary Black Rock Cemetery.
