David W. Cooke

David W. Cooke, 68, of Phoenixville, PA passed away on Tuesday, July 9, 2024.  Born on January 10, 1956 in Phoenixville, PA he was the son of the late Ernest R. Cooke, Jr. and Dorothy V. (Essick) Cooke.  He was a graduate of Northern Chester County Technical School and received an Associate’s degree in Mental Health from Hahnemann University. He spent decades working as a counselor in various group homes caring for autistic and mentally disabled adults and children and then custodial jobs before taking care of his parents in their later years. 

 David had many hobbies. He loved music and was a collector, especially blues and jazz. He loved to fish and bike ride. He was a diehard Phillies and Eagles fan. He loved to cook and share his meals with his friends and family. 

He was a devoted son, beloved brother and dedicated friend. His memory will be kept alive by his loving family. 

He is survived by his brother and sisters:

Ernest R. Cooke, III husband of Doreen, Gail Cook Stagner wife of Eugene, Brenda Kehler wife of Gary; and Dottie Powell wife of Craig.Nieces and nephews, Kelly Cook, Justin Cook, Rachel Powell, Courtney Powell, and Meredith Powell.  Great nieces and nephews, Konnor, Justice, Gavin, and Abigail.

Relatives and friends are invited to his Viewing and Funeral Service in the Devlin - Gatcha Funeral Home, 517 S. Main Street, Phoenixville, PA on Friday, July 12, 2024.  The viewing will be held in the funeral home on Friday from 9:30 to 11:00 am followed by a funeral service at 11:00 am. . 

 A private Interment will be held at a later date.  In lieu of flowers contributions may be given to Phoenixville Area Community Services, 101 Buchanan Street, Phoenixville, PA 19460.
