Christina French Miller, 95, of Phoenixville, PA, passed away peacefully at her family home on Friday, January 14, 2022.
Born on June 10, 1926, in Haverford, PA, she was a daughter of the late George French and Edna (Van Cleve) French.
After attending the Philadelphia Museum School of Art, she worked for many decades as a beloved preschool teacher at Charlestown Playhouse in Charlestown, and at its associated Summer Camp. In 1971 she cofounded Upattinas School, a private, alternative K-12 school and homeschooling resource center, which for its first few years operated out of her home.
She lived surrounded always by dogs and cats, and from 1991 to 2007, she was owner of the Dog Training School of Delaware County, which she managed together with Emiline Steinbronn.
An avid gardener, she tended her flowers, shrubs, and vegetable gardens through her 95th year, but her greatest joy was in the lives and activities of her children and grandchildren.
Surviving Christina are her children George Miller and wife Laura Burns, Frederick Miller and wife Margaret "Peggy", Schuyler Miller-Vance and husband Michael, and Wolfe Miller and wife Claire, as well as her grandchildren Kevin, Benjamin and Jonathon Vance, Colleen and Ian Miller, Amanda Miller, Julia Burns, and Christopher "Chip" Miller.
She was preceded in death by her husband, David Miller and her sons, Mark and Christopher "Kip" Miller.
A Memorial Program celebrating the life of Christine will be held at the Charlestown Playhouse, 2478 Charlestown Road, Phoenixville, PA 19460 on Saturday, May 14, 2022 at 11:30 AM.
