Betty Lou Brown

 Betty Lou (Brown) Brown, 84, wife of the late John (Jay) W. Brown, passed away on Friday November 8, 2024, in San Antonio, TX. Born on May 28, 1940, in Philadelphia, PA, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Margaret (Westerhood) Brown.

Betty attended Olney High School in Philadelphia, where she was crowned Miss Valentine Queen, class of 1956. She was one of the first dancers on American Bandstand. 

She was a member of the Osmond Cadets Junior Drum & Bugle Corps, Color Guard, where she met her husband of 64 years Jay Brown. 

They married in 1957, settling in Phoenixville. Betty worked downtown at Jerry’s Supermarket and the IVB Bank. Betty then worked as an Administrative Assistant at Vanguard Securities for a number of years. 

She was an active member of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church. Betty Volunteered for Phoenixville Meals on Wheels and as a preschool assistant for children with disabilities while retired in Florida. She enjoyed playing tennis, swimming at the YMCA and spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by 3 sons: Michael; John, husband of Mary; and Joseph, husband of Yliana.  Her legacy lives on through her 5 grandchildren and 9 Great-Grandchildren.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Funeral Service in the Devlin - Gatcha Funeral Home, 517 S. Main Street, Phoenixville, PA on Thursday, November 21, 2024 at 11:00 am.

Burial will follow in Washington Memorial Chapel Churchyard Cemetery.

A viewing will be held in the funeral home on Thursday from 10:00 to 11:00 am.
