Barbara Ann Musser

With great sadness, we announce the passing of Barbara Ann (LePore) Musser, 80, wife of Glenn Martin of Phoenixville, PA. She passed away on Tuesday, December 17, 2024.

Born on July 22, 1944, in Laurel, MD she was the daughter of the late Alfred and Peggy (Tuttle) LePore.

After graduating from Pallotti High School, the NSA hired Barbara to work in cryptography at Fort Meade. She never told anyone what she did there, but it was clear she was hired for her skills with puzzles, logic, and numbers. Married to Glenn in 1965, they moved to the new Calverton development in 1967 and were part of a tight-knit neighborhood for 41 years. After staying home with her young children, she studied accounting in night school and worked for over 25 years as a bookkeeper for many local small businesses. She and Glenn moved to Phoenixville, PA, in 2009.

Barbara was a self-taught cook and baker known for her lasagna and pies. She regularly hosted dinner and dessert for 30-40 people, making everything from scratch. She also canned hundreds of jars of peaches, pears, tomato sauce, and more annually.

She loved gardening and visiting gardens, from botanical gardens in British Columbia to Longwood Gardens in Brandywine.

She had a passion for fiber crafts, particularly knitting, sewing and embroidery. She made tailored outfits for her children and herself in the 1970s and 80s. She embroidered her jeans, Glenn’s jeans, knit afghans and sweaters. She started quilting in the 1990s and made pajamas, tailored outfits, and exquisite costumes for her grandchildren.

Always ready for an adventure, Barbara traveled to Europe in her 20s, road-tripped up and down the East Coast with her family, traveled with friends and neighbors throughout the US, crossed the country four times with her husband in their RV, visited most national parks in the West, and enjoyed 21 seasons as a snowbird in Fort Myers, FL. She flew to Portland at least twice yearly to celebrate her Oregon grandchildren’s birthdays.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by 2 children:  Chris Musser; Greg husband of Louise Musser.  3 Grandchildren, Avery, Luc, and Asa.  Brothers and sisters Tom LePore, Richard LePore, JoAnn Layton, Mary Kay Tedischi, Janet LePore, James LePore, and Kathleen Durham.  She was preceded in death by her brother, Steve LePore.  Barbara Ann, a beacon of kindness and love, will forever reside in our hearts.
