Arlene Virginia (Powell) Verish passed away at Season's Hospice on Sunday, January 21, 2018. Arlene was born in Phoenixville, PA on June 26, 1930 to Bertha Mae (Tarter) and Earl Jones Powell. She was a graduate of Phoenixville High School Class of 1948 where she was the captain of the cheer leading squad. While in high school, she was employed at the local hang-out "The Hut" as a waitress. Following high school, she worked in the office of Shanaman's Lumber Company. She was the wife of Robert J. Verish with whom she shared 64 years of marriage. During this time she was a homemaker, a Brownie troop leader and neighborhood Mom. She loved sewing, playing the piano, and dancing, as well as children and animals, and kept her youthfulness throughout her life. Arlene was well-known for her ability to find 4-leaf clovers. She shared all of the 4-leaf clovers she found with family, friends, and strangers.
Arlene is survived by 3 children: Virginia (Verish) Filipovic and husband Frank, Linda (Verish) Brignola-Braverman and husband Alan, and Robert P. Verish and wife Patricia (Duranto).
Four grandchildren: Sarah (Nagy) Talbot and husband Kevin, Michael Nagy and wife Lauren (Coleman), Mark Nagy and wife Stacey (Amos), and Jena Verish.
Five great-grandchildren: Lyric, Isaac, and Coleman Nagy, and Ryan and Kaila Talbot.
She was pre-deceased by twin great-grandsons Thomas and Anthony Nagy.
A Memorial Service will be held in St. John's United Church of Christ, 315 Gay Street, Phoenixville, PA on Saturday, January 27, 2018 at 11:00 am.
Friends may call at the church on Saturday from 9:30 am to 11:00 am.
Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, a contribution may be made in Arlene's name to St. John's United Church of Christ, 315 Gay Street, Phoenixville, PA.
