Anna Marie "Amy" Carney, 93, wife of the late John F. "Jack" Carney of Phoenixville, PA passed away peacefully on Friday, December 6, 2024 surrounded by her family.
Born on June 13, 1931 in Mont Clare, PA she was the daughter of the late John and Anna (Pufko) Kuchma.
She was a graduate of Phoenixville High School.
Amy worked in several secretarial and administrative positions throughout her career. She was most fond of her time at the Valley Forge Army Hospital.
She was a longtime member of Holy Ghost Orthodox Church where she was very active in church activities. Amy was a member of the church choir and served on the church board as trustee and secretary She volunteered her time several years for the children at Vacation Bible School.
After the passing of her parents, Amy continued the family traditions as she hosted and prepared all the traditional Slovak dishes for the Orthodox holidays. She was at her best during the Christmas and Easter holidays as she worked tirelessly preparing the dinners for family. Keeping the family together was a top priority for her and she would host any event at anytime, sometimes providing the entertainment.
Over the last several decades you could see Amy traveling about to the local shops and malls with either her sister Betty or lifelong friend Maryanne. Amy enjoyed knitting, all the Philly sports teams, and her vacation trips to LBI and Delaware.
She is survived by 2 sons:
Jack: husband of Dorothy Carney; and their family Tommy, Betsy, and Jenny.
Douglas Carney.
Brother, John husband of Eleanor Kuchma.
Many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her sisters, Helen Valerio, Elizabeth Carey, and Mary Anne Houck.
A special thank you for the care to the 4th floor and hospice nurses at Phoenixville Hospital. They made "Anna's" time peaceful and comfortable.
Amy's infectious personality touched everyone who knew her. There was nothing more important to her than her love for family and her faith. The gift she leaves is a life long legacy of cherished memories. She will forever be missed by her family.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Funeral Service from the Devlin - Gatcha Funeral Home, 517 Main Street, Phoenixville, PA on Thursday, December 12, 2024 at 11:00 am with Very Rev. Peter Paproski officiating. Burial will be private in St. Ann Cemetery.
A viewing will be held at the funeral home on Thursday morning from 10:00 to 11:00 am.
