Alan K. Jacobs, 90, of Spring City, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 22, 2023, in Phoenixville Hospital.
Born on October 4, 1932, in Brooklyn, NY, he was a son of the late Isadore (“Irving”) and Bessie (Pappert) Jacobs.
Alan received his Bachelor's and two Master's degrees in Music Education and Administration from New York University School of Education.
He served in the U.S. Army following WWII and the Korean War and was a member of the 7th Army Symphony Orchestra – one of the most memorable experiences of his life. He had a career in music education and administration and later was involved in commercial real estate development and benefits consulting. Locally, he became a member of the Liberty Steam Fire Engine Company No. 1 in Spring City.
Alan was passionate about music and loved to share that passion with everyone, from his family to his students to friends and colleagues. He also enjoyed gardening and providing the fruit of his labor to everyone he knew. He had a vibrant personality with a love for life coupled with tremendous drive and determination and was a beloved and devoted father, grandfather, companion, uncle, friend, and mentor.
He is survived by four children - Lisa Jacobs; Jeffry (Mary Paoli) Jacobs; Clifford Jacobs; and Garret Jacobs; his companion of 25 years - Marlene Shear; five grandchildren – Jacquelyn (Nick) Dusseau, Ryan, Courtney, Kalyn, and Benjamin Jacobs, and two nephews - Robert and Mitchell Jacobs.
A memorial service is being planned and will be announced at a later date.
